Collective Writing Activity

This is an activity to create a collective piece of writing, a collage of poetry and prose. If you’d like to have a go, these were the instructions:

• You should write no more than 10 sentences or lines
• Each line should begin with one of the following or a combination of the following:
  • I celebrate…
  • We celebrate…
  • I hope…
• These lines can be as simple or as detailed as you want them to be
• You should write in a way for it to be read and heard out loud

We did this activity with our participants to edit all their lines into one collective piece of writing and record them using a multitude of different voices. Each participant was asked to bear in mind that their lines/sentences may not appear all together in the sequence they wrote them in. That they may be moved and separated and appear in different places for dramatic effect.
